Local Car Clubs
The Knysna/Plettenberg Bay area is fast becoming the place to retire to if you are a classic car enthusiast.
We have two active car clubs based here. The MG Car Club has only being going for six years but already has 98 members with about 112 cars about 20 of which are T types (TC,TD and TF’s).
The Garden Route Car club caters for all other vintage and classic cars and has 103 members with about 150 cars some of which are MG’s affiliated to the MG Car Club.
Most of the cars tend to be British like Austin Healey’s, Jaguars, Triumphs and MG’s. The two clubs work well together often having combined events on a regular basis.
We have much expertise in the area with specialist workshops and most repairs can be undertaken right here in Knysna.
The enthusiasm and friendliness amongst the members is unbelievable.
A private museum close to my premises will open soon and we hope will become a must go to destination for the classic car runs that take place.
Apart from having some very interesting cars in the museum there will be an aiconditioned entertainment room with a display of more than 6,000 model cars, slot car racing and a lounge where like minded petrol heads can relax with a cup of coffee and a motoring magazine. Kind of like a man cave!
Also at the same premises we have Aubrey Springer ‘The Beetle Man’ who has recently moved in and is a fundi on restoring old VW’s.
If you are a classic car man then you just have to pop in for a visit.
